The roads were once again set ablaze – this time, way hotter than the scorching summer sun.
Von Dutch, the king of kustom kulture is on a roll, taking pride in what it’s boastful of – DIY-inspired masterpieces, which were originally slated for rad automobiles and choppers in the 1990s and 2000s. To date, these eye-catching designs are now wearable, parade-worthy, and road-ready.
Last March 17-20, 2016, eyes flew in creative pursuit as followers of kustom kulture flocked Robinsons Place Manila’s Midtown Atrium for one creative, stylish, and expressive ride to unleash one’s free hand and mind down the DIY track – this is Kustomania 2016.
For four days, Von Dutch freed kustomizers as they styled the brand’s famous trucker caps into their own. Heading down just three stops, road rascals personalized those sun shields for the head: REGISTRATION, where they could claim their DIY cap kits and get their artistic oils boiling; ACCESSORIES, their station for customizing their caps with loads of patches and rivets; and PAINTSHOP, the last checkpoint for paint work and finishing touches.
Just when things couldn’t get more awesome, nutshells were breathed with powerful perspective during pinstriping live demos by pinstriping master, Aldrin Anderson.
Participants zoomed over decked-out Von Dutch kustom bikes and a striking display of kustom caps, all from the Kustomania exhibit. Road riders rocked to the live beat of music sets by DJ Samir Ayeb all the while motioning over the equally stunning models and live mannequins garbed in iconic kustom wear.
Speed savvies will always remember this rev revolution as the moments were snapped away in a bike-themed photobooth. To top this up, the latest rage from Von Dutch were showcased in a denim bar, highlighting Toughmax, distressed jeans, and Rip & Repair for men and Seamless and Skyhigh for the ladies.
