Sotto warned against panic buying in particular, as numerous markets and grocery stores have begun to sell out their stock of face masks, sanitizers and rubbing alcohol, and even instant noodles in some places.
“Kawawa naman ‘yung mga mauubusan [How unfortunate for those who won’t have any left],” he said in a media interview. “Safe po tayo. ‘Wag po tayo magpanic [We’re safe. Let’s not panic].”
He urged people to remain considerate of others and to be aware that there is enough to go around. Sotto assured that stores in Pasig will not close as there is “no problem at all” concerning food availability.
