“Venom” is officially returning

Venom Official Trailer

Loved it or hated it, Venom is getting a sequel and Tom Hardy is set to return as Eddie Brock.

Producer Amy Pascal told Fandango, “I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can. When you think of Venom, you’ll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that’s all you needed to know.”

Venom is considered as one of Spider-Man’s worst enemies. The character first appeared in the comics in 1988, created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. He is described as an alien symbiote that attaches itself to a human host. IGN ranked him as the 22nd Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time in its list of the top 100 comic villains.

Aaaaaaaaand there’s the possibility of Tom Holland appearing as Spider-Man. According to Pascal, “Everybody would love to see that. You never know someday … it might happen. I can say that we’ve had a fantastic partnership and you never know what’s going to happen. We have a lot of stories to tell about Spider-Man, in every facet. We have big plans for Tom Holland to be a part of everything.”

Venom was previously portrayed in Spider-Man 3 by Topher Grace.

Rumor has it that the sequel will be released on October 2020.
