While Dauin is tucked away from major nightlife and noise, guests don’t need to leave the resort to find activities and things to keep them busy: a large infinity pool next to a well-equipped bar offers views over the resort and ocean.
A smaller family pool is the perfect place for children to enjoy their afternoons. Daily morning and afternoon yoga classes that are taught in an oceanfront treehouse help you find your zen and the resort’s own dive center offers Padi-certified scuba classes and dive trips.
We were especially impressed with the spa, hidden in a large garden with beautiful floral landscaping and various pools and ponds. The spa has a wide menu of relaxing massages, facials and various other body treatments.
If exploring the area is on your to-do list, a trip to nearby Apo Island to swim with local turtles is an unforgettable experience. The resort offers regular trips to Apo Island on the resort’s own boat. An Apo Island trip includes snorkeling in two areas of the island, drinks and a Filipino lunch that can be devoured on the boat in between snorkeling stops.
Another great daytrip destination is Valencia, which you can reach on a 45-mins car ride. We combined a visit to the majestic Casaroro waterfalls that a short treck through the mountains and over 300 steps on steep stairs will get you to with a visit to the Red Rock Hot Springs, a natural phenomenon we experienced in the Philippines for the first time.
Helping the community is an important part implemented by the Atmosphere Resort owners: a soup kitchen program sponsored by the resort provides 80 school children with a daily balanced weekday lunch, year round. Mothers of the children volunteer and run the program. Guests who are interested in learning more about the porgram can attend one of two weekly visits to the soup kitchen.
