UPLB Spoken Word Flip Top Battle Features Characters from Filipino Epics

UPLB Communicators’ Association, an academic organization of UPLB’s BA Communication Arts Program, presents a theater production entitled, “Nagmahal. Nasaktan. Nag-prod. (Please help me naman)” on October 25-27, 2016 at the NCAS Auditorium. The piece is written by Layeta Bucoy.

Labeled as a “Spoken Word Flip Top Battle,” the piece echoes the oral tradition of Filipino culture. It features characters from Filipino epics such as Handiong, Lam-ang, Ines, Nagmalitong Yawa, Oriol, and many more. The piece showcases these familiar characters in a contemporary manner that is familiar to modern audiences.

Layeta Bucoy is an associate professor at the Department of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB (CAS). She is highly recognized in the field of the arts and has garnered multiple recognitions for her contribution including the Palanca Award for Literature multiple times and for various categories. She was also recently named UP Artist III.
