UPLB Chemical Society Concludes the First-ever Online Kapnayan

The UPLB Chemical Society’s 16th installment of the Kapnayan was officially concluded on February 12, 2022! Kapnayan is a triennial week-long nationwide Chemistry fair for Philippine High Schools since 1976 and it is hosted by the UPLB Chemical Society. Kapnayan 2022 was pushed through with the title and theme, The Prescribed Dose: Immunizing Minds Through Chemical Literacy Against the Infodemic. It aims to emphasize the role of Chemistry and the sciences in addressing social and economic problems and to promote chemical literacy to 21st-century learners. Moreover, this also highlights STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and teaches the youth in using it as a tool to dismantle misinformation in a world where fake news and misinformation have become rampant.

The opening ceremony (https://fb.watch/ba8utLsblO/) of the Chemistry fair happened last February 7, 2022, with the opening remarks from the respected guests: DOST Undersecretary Dr. Renato Solidum, Dr. Veronica Migo, and Ms. Ivy Retuya.
