On the 11th of August, the College of Human Ecology at the University of the Philippines Los Baños officially welcomed its newest Freshmen, Shiftees, and Transferees (FSTs) through the CHE FST Convocation and Organization Fair. With the theme “Sang’CHE: Simula ng Makaekolohiyang Paglalakbay”, the event embraced the spirit of embarking on a transformative journey rooted in ecological awareness, community building, and academic excellence.
Held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the DL Umali Auditorium, the convocation brought together 188 CHE students from Batch 2025, alongside college faculty members and staff. More than just a formal program, it was a symbolic first step into their shared pursuit of knowledge and service anchored on the core values of Human Ecology: balance, interconnectedness, and the sustainable well-being of people and the environment.
Organized by the UPLB College of Human Ecology Freshman Council (CHE FC), in collaboration with the UPLB College of Human Ecology and the UPLB College of Human Ecology Student Council (CHE SC), the event is part of this year’s Freshie Welcoming Activities (FWA), designed to guide, inspire, and support new students as they navigate the transition to university life.
The celebration continued with the Organization Fair from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the DCRC Hall, Department of Human and Family Development Studies. CHE-based student organizations warmly opened their doors to the Batch 2025 FSTs, introducing their advocacies, showcasing their achievements, and engaging them through interactive activities.
The Sang’CHE Convocation and Organization Fair were not just welcoming rites; they marked the first chapter of the FSTs’ ecological journey in the college’s shared narrative of learning, service, and environmental stewardship. As part of the FWA 2025, the events reaffirmed CHE’s commitment to cultivating future leaders who can think critically, act compassionately, and work collectively toward building sustainable and resilient communities.
For many, the day was both an introduction and an invitation: to grow, to connect, and to leave an impact. May this journey ahead be filled with friendships that endure, lessons that go beyond the classroom, and experiences that nurture both mind and heart.
