Last week, we shared a viral post that was going around social media detailing an alleged taxi modus. Anne M., who first posted the story, shared that she and her family went to a mall to do the grocery. After shopping, they got on a cab who kept complaining that there were too many passengers. Later on, they started feeling dizzy. She said:
(It was a good thing that the shortcut I taught the driver would pass by the barangay hall. Thatโs when I asked him to stop. I got down right away and asked my family to get down, too. When I alighted, I had difficulty breathing and my heart was beating fast. My sibling also felt weak. I called someone from the barangay so the driver couldnโt get away. My father asked the driver to open the compartment but the driver refused. It was only when a barangay representative arrived did he open it.)
It wasn’t clear whether the cab driver was convicted or his crime or whether he really was trying to attempt to steal from them, butย a Facebook user sent us a message, showing another post by Anne M. clarifying the issue. According to her:
(I was able to talk to the authorities and the owner at the barangay, and I would like to apologize for the negative effect this incident brought to their business. I did not have any ill intentions towards them. Mr. Pablo Sarmiento, the owner of the company, fulfilled their obligation and the authorities did not find anything. I would like to apologize to Mr. Pablo Sarmiento for the distress I have caused to their business.)
