UP PUGAD Sayk Advocates for Accessible Psychology Through Community Initiatives

As a young discipline, psychology has yet to be fully integrated into academia and society. We recognize that in advancing the field of psychology and its applications, certain sectors in our community and key discourse topics must be prioritized.

With this, UP PUGAD Sayk aims to implement initiatives that address these concerns and amplify our call for psychology to be accessible and understood by all, not just a select few. This includes efforts to provide assistance to our community partners from marginalized sectors. In line with this, the organization will introduce five main events.

TAGPI Main Pub

Lahad: Branch-Out aims to raise funds for our partner community to support their needs. Through this, Hawak Kamay upholds the organizationโ€™s core values of prioritizing people and promoting the advocacy of our partners in creating a safer, more empowered, and inclusive space for individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities.

LikHAIN: Grand Pakain encourages breaking free from a colonial mindset while emphasizing the importance of collective action in cultural expression. Everyone, including non-members, will be invited to take part in this feast, enjoying food, drinks, games, and performances.

Kalinga: Outreach Program is UP PUGAD Saykโ€™s annual outreach initiative in partnership with The Heart at Play Foundation. “Kalinga” features a dance therapy session and other interactive activities that foster bonding between THP members and our organization, helping us find our rhythm together.

Lastly, Habilihan: Soar High is an event designed to guide senior high school students on potential career paths in psychology. Guest speakers invited by the organization will discuss various job opportunities available for those pursuing a degree in psychology.
