The University of the Philippines Oroquieta (UPO) conducted the College Entrance Exam Review (CEER) 2025 on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Quezon Science High School (QSHS).
CEER is the annual College Entrance Test (CET) review program spearheaded by UPO—the official varsitarian organization of students from Quezon Province in the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
“Isinasagawa ang CEER upang makatulong sa mga high school students sa Quezon Province bilang paraan ng UP Oroquieta upang magbigay pabalik sa komunidad,” remarked Christian “Kween” Danganan, the incumbent President of UPO.
Danganan also explained that the organization’s goal was to provide quality review sessions for students without the financial burden of costly review programs.
The CEER was divided into two sessions—the mock examination and the lecture proper. The mock examination was subdivided into four subtests: Mathematics Proficiency, Science Proficiency, Language Proficiency and Reading Comprehension, and Abstract and Mechanical Reasoning—helping participants prepare for both CETs and scholarship examinations.
“I found it really hard since wala akong review… I think mamaya sa lecture, sa mga gagawin ng [lecturers], maiintindihan ko pa lalo ang mga binibigay [nilang questions],” said Rojan, a CEER participant.
The lecture proper followed at the QSHS Multi-purpose Hall, featuring a roster of professionals from UPLB who discussed the answers to the mock examination in their respective fields.
After the lectures, Roland Adrian Añonuevo, Angelo Miguel Dañez, and Louie Alfonso Sardea from QNHS emerged as the overall topnotchers of CEER 2025 out of almost 450 participants.
“Actually do’n ko lang sa lecture talaga na-realize ‘yong mga mali ko. Super thankful for the lecture proper, hindi kami naiwan sa ere sa mga sagot na ‘di namin sure,” shared Jed, another participant.
Angelo Dañez also expressed gratitude for the experience, saying, “These are truly helpful as I can use these takeaways and the entire experience so I can strategize and prepare for the actual CETs that I will take in the future.”
The event concluded with closing remarks from CEER Overall Head Siegfred Curaming.
A total of 27 schools participated in CEER 2025. This year also marked the first time CEER accepted applicants from schools outside Quezon Province—De La Salle Lipa and National University Nazareth School.
Beyond CEER, UPO continues to extend its services to Quezon through community projects such as donation drives, volunteer work, and tree or mangrove planting. The organization also holds its flagship event, Intelligence Quiz (IQ), which allows students from Quezon to showcase their excellence holistically.
