UP is Listed as One of the Best 100 Universities in Asia

For students and alumni of the University of the Philippines, we have great news for you: the university was included in Times Higher Education‘s (THE) list of best universities in Asia, ranking in at 95th place. The state university is also the fourth best educational institution in Southeast Asia.

UP’s ranking rose from its previous spot at 156th. The university has ranked every year since 2017, being the only school from the Philippines to do so.

Joining UP is the De La Salle University, which ranked in the 251-300 cluster.

Topping the list is Tsinghua University (China). This is followed by National University of Singapore (Singapore), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong), University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong), Peking University (China), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong), the University of Tokyo (Japan), Seoul National University (Korea), and Sungkyunkwan University (Korea).

THE ranked the universities based  five key areas: “teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income, and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (number of staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer).” To be qualified, an institution must have a minimum of 150 relevant research studies a year between 2013 and 2017.

The publication ranked over 400 universities from 27 countries.
