The UP Economics Society, one of the leading socio-civic organizations in UP Diliman, was established in 1958 and has since then been committed to embodying Service, Excellence and Tradition in all its events. This September 2021, they commemorate their 63 years of existence by organizing a month-long anniversary celebration called “Ecosoc Month.” With these three core thrusts in mind, UP Ecosoc is proud to present a line-up of five major events for this year: Launch and Gallery, Service Project, National Economics Summit, Grand Tradition, and a Culminating Activity.
Ecosoc Month is definitely one of the most highly awaited events for Ecosocers, both then and now. It is a significant part of each member’s journey in the organization because it serves as a great opportunity for them to practice the core thrusts and introduce them to the community at large in the most impactful ways possible. Previous installments of the organization’s culminating activity are LIV, Ecosoc Month’s most colorful night of the year, from 2013 to 2017 and GLO, a dance party like never before, in 2019. However, with the ongoing pandemic, the organizers were challenged to innovate and adapt to the online setup in order to ensure that all stakeholders celebrate the month with the same excitement and fervor.
After months of planning, the UP Economics Society proudly presents its new and most awaited culminating activity—Ground UP: Service Through Talent, an online benefit variety show which features a diverse pool of homegrown talent from organizations based in multiple constituents of the University of the Philippines system. It will be held on October 2, 2021 at 7:00pm and will be livestreamed on the UP Ecosoc Month Facebook page.
Through Ground UP, we aim to unite the UP community and reminisce about what being on campus felt like. Additionally, in the spirit of service, Ground UP seeks to raise funds for the All U.P. Workers Union, the sole and exclusive union of all rank-and-file administrative employees of the University of the Philippines who continue to seek financial aid to assist them with their basic needs in the midst of this pandemic. Together, let us come together for a night of service through talent. See you there!
