With the aim of honing the sportsmanship and dancing skills of ballroom dancers and enthusiasts alike, Oblation Dancesport 2018 has been organized by the UP Dancesport Society, or UP DSS, the official ballroom dancing organization of the University of the Philippines. Since its inception in the year 2005, it has showcased and highlighted the dancesport competitors swaying their way into the dance floor. What better way to do that to celebrate artistry and athleticism by joining us in this capstone event?
This February 24, ballroom dancers from all over the country will set the floor blazing with their competitive and lively performances. Competitors from both disciplines, Latin and Standard, are all welcome to hit the dancefloor. Oblation Dancesport 2018 will offer categories for rumba, chacha, jive, samba, and pasodoble of the Latin discipline and waltz, tango, quickstep, foxtrot, and the Viennese waltz of the Standard discipline. We have competitors from all ages, those in high school and college, and those below and beyond 45 years old both have events they could enter.
For enthusiasts, a dance congress is set up in the morning to engage individuals in the discipline of ballroom dancing.
The dance congress is open to all, no dance experience needed! It will offer Dancesport 101 lessons with the renowned dancing professional of the Dancesport Community and one of the pioneers of dancesport in the Philippines, Sir Alberto Dimarucut, and a leadership seminar from UP DSS alumni, Mr. Gian Yap.
A number of people bore witness to the Oblation Dancesport 2005 at the SM North EdsaSkydome. Now after 13 years, UP Dancesport Society is once more launching the Oblation Dancesport 2018. In line with UP Diliman’s Arts Month, this year’s event is about artistry, athleticism, and adoration, not only to the sport but to the dancers as well.
Join us at the UP Oblation Dancesport 2018, happening on February 24 at Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman. The Dance Congress begins at 8:00 AM and the competition proper begins at 12:30PM.
Whether you are a dancer or have no background with ballroom dancing or any other dance, come learn a new hobby and maybe even a new love at the Dance Congress for just PHP150.

If you want to watch competitive ballroom dancing, audience tickets are priced at PHP200.00 for the afternoon competition proper. Students can buy the ticket for just PHP100.00 (just bring your student ID). Watch the more advanced dancesport competitors in the evening event for PHP500.00, inclusive of dinner. For competitors, the registration fee is at PHP1,500.00 with P500.00 for every additional event.
