Unilab Foundation’s #healthierPH: Volunteerism Goes Digital

Unilab Foundation’s #healthierPH: Volunteerism Goes Digital

When in Manila, you’ll surely see plenty of people looking like zombies walking around with their smart phones and their heads down. It has been a social problem for us in the Generation Y. It seems that the word “social networking” has already lost its original context. However, the tech savviness of our social deterioration can also be used to our advantage. And this is not just an advantage of one person, but of 100 million Filipinos.

Unilab Foundation believes that Generation Y can actually help their mission build a healthier Philippines. Thus, they launched “#healthierPH: Redefining Volunteerism for a Healthier Philippines, One Click at a time.”

Now, volunteering is made easier. There’s no need for us to go to a physical place to provide our service, leave work and go to a specific event or donate money for a cause. All we have to do is make “online clicks” to pay Unilab Foundation’s goal forward.

Bayanihan sa Kalusugan

We no longer live in a world where the pen is mightier than the sword. We live in a world where the sword bows down to the might of the keyboard. As Filipinos, we are known for our trademark “bayanihan” trait. The “bayanihan” that we have showed the world still continues with the noble causes that we advocate for. And if you advocate health, then Unilab Foundation’s #healthierPh volunteer portal can make volunteering more fun for you.

You can volunteer on any social platform of your choice.

The #healthierPH Volunteer Portal empowers everyone to build a healthier Philippines in their own unique way. Now, you can volunteer without being physically present, without providing monetary help and without any required time given to a specific Unilab Foundation event. All you need to do is to visit Unilab Foundations website (www.unilabfoundation.org) and experience a “gamified” volunteering experience.

How the #healthierPH Volunteer Portal Works

1. Upon signing up, each user gets a volunteer avatar or “voluntar” and gains access to the various volunteer projects of ULF.

2. He or she can then choose to participate in the projects by sharing time, talent, resources, or by simply helping spread the word about ULF’s advocacies.

3. “Voluntars” rank up with each volunteer effort, from Citizen, to Community Leader, to Barangay Captain, to Mayor, and ultimately – President of #healthierPH.

4. Each time a user does volunteer work, he or she also gains items with healthy tips. The items may be fictional or real, depending on the volunteer work, and can be converted into points to help them rank up faster. He or she can also share the items with their friends!

It’s real-time all the time.

How can you really make a difference in making a healthier PH? It’s a domino effect and Unilab Foundation strongly advocates that health must start from you first. So, aside from the #healthierPH project, they also launched the #healthishappening project. Indeed, it’s realtime all the time. All you have to do is choose a healthy activity, commit to that habit that you will nurture into a habit fr 21 days, rally friends, family and even strangers to cheer you on and register your healthy habit.
