UAAP Season 82 medals and trophies are made from recycled plastic waste

Reportedly, Senator Kiko Pangilinan has already Filed A Bill Seeking The Ban of Single-use Plastics in the country. It’s good to note that the UAAP Season 82 is doing the same influential action of reducing waste for the benefit of not only the Philippines but also the planet.

At the Mall of Asia Arena, in the course of the opening for UAAP Season 82, Ateneo President Jett Villarin SJ unveiled that the medals and trophies for this season were hand-crafted and are made from bullet casings from Marawi and recycled plastic from Taal, Batangas.

Villarin shared: “The trophy and medal might be yours if you win in the competition but you will also win this for the community in Marawi, in Taal. They made your trophies and medals out of recycled materials.”

These trophies were made to recognize the great achievements that the winning athletes have accomplished throughout all their efforts and hard training, but now—when they are awarded these medals made with good intent—they could also be a symbol of love for the environment.

Villarin also mentioned that UAAP Season 82 tokens are also a symbol of victory for the league’s partner communities as well.
