Netizens around the world have been panicking for the past hours after social media website Twitter experienced an outage that kept people from posting tweets, accessing their timelines, or checking their notifications.
The technical problems happened at around 5:30 AM Manila time, according to reports. Twitter released a statement a few hours later assuring everyone that it was not caused by a hack. “Twitter has been down for many of you and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone. We had some trouble with our internal systems and don’t have any evidence of a security breach or hack,” the statement read.
“The recent issue was caused by an inadvertent change we made to our internal systems. Twitter should be working for everyone within the next few hours,” the Twitter Comms team added.
As of writing, it seems that the site is back up and running normally.
