Sagada is a rural community located in the Mountain Province. Located up north, it is approximately a 12-hour drive from Manila. The spotlight was turned towards Sagada due to the indie rom-com film “That Thing Called Tadhana.” Heartbroken and recovering, the protagonists of the movie went up to Sagada to mend their hearts.

Sagada is largely untouched by modern culture. It is mostly surrounded by nature, lush mountains and caves. Tourists who visit Sagada spend time hiking its green valleys of rice terraces. Spelunking is also popular here.

Sagada is notable for its hanging coffins, which indigenous people from Mountain Province hang on the side of the cliff. It is a custom that they have been practicing for thousands of years.

If you haven’t visited this place, here are some stunning photos that show the calming beauty of Sagada.
