Travel of Minors Within Metro Manila Now Allowed, But With One Condition

In a press conference this Tuesday, October 19, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the travel of minors (aged 17 years and below) is now allowed within the region. The resolution, which was signed by all 17 mayors of NCR cities, states the following:

The intrazonal and interzonal travel of persons below 18 years old shall be allowed provided that these persons shall be accompanied by a parent or an adult guardian at all times.

Intrazonal refers to travel between areas with the same quarantine classifications, while interzonal means travel between areas with different quarantine classifications. However, MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said that the guidelines are not yet final and are still being ironed out, as they’re still only relying on the recommendations of the IATF.

Meanwhile, it was also announced in the press briefing that minors may now also be allowed into shopping malls, but only if they’re accompanied by an adult, and only for essential activities like clinic appointments.
