The Business Economics Congress has been hosted by the UST Economics Society since 2022. Since then, UST EcoSoc has envisioned it as one of the foremost events the organization has to offer, as it aligns seamlessly with the organization’s mission and vision of championing academic excellence and fostering social consciousness. It is designed to empower students to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom concepts and practical applications through various activities, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge necessary for their future.
The theme, “Towards a Brighter Future: Unveiling the Economic Pathways to a Secure and Prosperous Future,” is both timely and pertinent. Characterized by the aspiration for a “Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay,” the vision for 2040 is for Filipinos to experience lives marked by stability, comfort, and security. This vision articulates: “By 2040, every Filipino will enjoy a life of stability and comfort, with the confidence that we can meet our daily needs and manage unforeseen expenses. We will have the means to plan and secure the futures of ourselves and our children, reside in our own homes, and relish the freedom to travel, all supported by a government that is clean, efficient, and just.” As we reflect on nearly a decade since the launch of Ambisyon Natin 2040, it is crucial to assess our progress and explore strategies to achieve the goals of stability, comfort, and security for all Filipinos.
This year’s Congress will delve deeply into the progress and impact of various sectors, exploring their pivotal roles in achieving the Ambisyon Natin 2040 vision. These activities will include a seminar and an innovation pitch challenge, all firmly rooted in the field of Business Economics. This initiative catalyzes the personal and professional growth of UST Business Economics students, fostering collaboration among peers and inspiring research endeavors.
Participants will gain insights into the current economic landscape of the Philippines and neighboring countries, benefiting from the diverse perspectives of fellow participants and keynote speakers at the seminar. The overarching goal is to seamlessly integrate the diverse skill sets of Business Economics students into their chosen field of study. Furthermore, the event aspires to mold competent students capable of championing the cause of sustainable and coherent plans toward the paramount goal of economic growth and development.
