Total Lockdown Possible If Violations Persist

Since the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) last March 17, more and more COVID-19 cases are being recorded. Though the number of recoveries had surpassed the number of deaths, officials are still saying that the number of cases will rise as many people are reported to be out of their homes for the past few days.

Though there is no announcement about another extension of the ECQ, a total lockdown may be possible if people continue to violate rules.

“We have seen that the number of COVID cases increased, decreased and the number is still on the rise. It’s saddening that while we extended the (quarantine), we have yet to flatten the curve,” said presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

Both the traffic congestion in SLEX and EDSA had alarmed both the City Governments and the National level. Roque says that a total lockdown will be an option if the virus continues to spread.

“So let’s not prolong the enhanced community quarantine. Let us fulfill our obligations… There are only a few days left… If we do not flatten the curve, if we don’t reduce the cases of COVID-19, of course, it’s one of the options being considered,” he added.
