My passion in photography has led me to capture moments of celebration like weddings, birthdays, boudoir, beautiful places around the country, great tasting food and just recently, learning new things – and not anything new but something that could make me earn extra.
Last May 18 – 19, 2012 a Hands On Internet Marketing Workshop was conducted at b-connected Internet Café in Market Market by local internet Marketing guru Jomar Hilario.
This workshop was all about creating an online presence that would enable you to earn. And who wouldn’t want earn especially if you can do all of it in the comfort of your home.
The participants were from all walks of life. From fresh graduates, to business owners, to retirees, stay-at-home moms and some who were just tired of the corporate world and wanted to try something new.
We started the workshop with a prayer. One of Jomar Hilario’s mentors is Bo Sanchez (of Kerygma Conference and The Feast) – and knowing the strong faith Bo has – it was but natural that the days start with God.
With coffee, ample water & snacks available, everyone started on their journey to a hopeful future.
But before I get ahead myself, who is Jomar Hilario?
Jomar is a Filipino/Philippine-based internet marketer, workshop speaker who’s known to be the Tim Ferris (of 4 hour workweek fame) of the Philippines for his early work with internet marketing technologies and virtual assistants. He is also a powerful advocate of helping others gain semi-passive income on the Internet online or offline. A writer for Fish Magazine (Christian Music and Technology) and Didache/Gabay Catholic Devotionals, Jomar is closely involved in the planning and launching of Bo Sanchez’s internet properties like PreacherInBlueJeans.com, KerygmaFamily.com and other SVP projects.
He’s a straight-to-the-point no-nonsense guy that teaches in a very simple and easy to understand way that even those with limited knowledge on the internet can turn out to be digital masters along the way.
So here you go, based on what I and everyone else learned during the Hands On Internet Marketing Workshop, are the Top 5 Ways to Earn Online.
1. Create a blog
It has to be something that you are passionate about. If it’s photography, make-up, traveling, a product, your favorite actor or music band – anything under the sun. This way people would find out about you, and eventually want to buy your product, get your services and ask to advertise on your site.
2. Gather client emails & use an Email Service Provider (ESP)
This is called email marketing, in this digital age, one of the most important things is to not sell right away (it would be good if you do) but to get email addresses of the right people (not just anyone, but emails of your potential clients). I call it “The List” – its magical because once you touch base with people using Email Service Providers (example : Listwire, Constant Contact, Aweber, Mail Chimp) – it does wonders with lead conversion. In short – it gives you sales.
You can get this list by asking visitors of your website to give their email addresses. If you’re joining a trade-fair, get the email addresses of people who walk by your booth. They may not buy from you now, but communicating with them using the system of Email Service Providers (ESPs) can definitely get you that sales.
3. Maximize Facebook & other Social Media
Now is probably the best time than ever to make money online with the various social media out there – facebook, twitter, pinterest. Make the most of these platforms like using facebook ads and using apps to promote your product/business online.
4. Be in the Industry
Know the players, suppliers, customers and associations in your industry and be part of their websites, forums, facebook groups and listings. It’s a good way to network with people, learn from them and get other people to sell you.
An example, is if you are a wedding photographer and want to be up and about in the wedding industry – you have to be with the following online associations : Weddings At Work, Bridalbook.ph, Themes & Motifs, Getting Married, WPPP, etc.
5. Be a Virtual Assistant
This has got to be the quickest way to earn online among all mentioned. You can actually earn P10,000 – P30,000 / month in 30 days (starting) and eventually as you grow this can increase to P100,000 / month and much more (part-time or full-time). This is definitely something that is changing the workforce industry & entrepreneurial spirit of our country.
How does being a virtual assistant work? Its basically being an entrepreneur by servicing foreign clients with different tasks – admin stuff, marketing, sales, finance, arts, creatives, etc. The positions are endless. What’s even better about it is that you get to work from the comforts of your own home, most often at a schedule of your choice, be with your family and earn in dollars. Cuts you down on the hassle of driving/commuting to work, office politics and lets you save on lunch money.
I have actually proven this formula. I attended one of Jomar’s “How to Work from Home as a Virtual Assistant” a few months ago and now, when I’m not shooting on weekends – I am an Internet Marketer & Social Media Manager for several clients in the US & UK. I manage facebook pages, write content for blogs, do email marketing and do some presentations. And the pay is nice – its also constant. But more than that, I love how I am able to just work with my son playing next to me or being able to see my daughter off to school & tend to her needs when she comes home.
So there’s one coming up this June 30 that I think you must attend. I know a lot of people who are low on cash, don’t seem to find work , need to earn extra, want to be with their family — and I am coming from a place where I honestly would like to see you and other Filipinos come out triumphant in your lives. You see, there really is a choice out there – to learn and really take charge of your circumstances. And that goes much deeper than the rah-rah’s in this paragraph.
