7. Batanes

The Nakabuang beach in Sabtang Island is the setting of the famous airline ad. Since it is located at the Northern tip of the Philippines, the waves are really strong and the sand is not as fine as in other beaches in the country. But the view is extremely picturesque!Looking at it in person is like looking at a very brightly colored postcard.

 

Many Filipinos dream of coming to Batanes, and they are so right in putting it in their list. 

 

 

6. Balicasag Island, Bohol

 

This is a protected island and is managed by the government and is one of the best dive sites in the Philippines.

 

 

The fine cream sand is overshadowed by the beauty of the underwater scene. When diving or snorkeling in Balicasag, the water is noticeable bluer and clearer.

 

 

5. Apo Island, Dumaguete 

 

Stay overnight in Apo Island only if you can handle the most basic and rugged accommodations. There is no electricity at night, very limited fresh water and swarms of mosquitos depending on the season.

 

 

The marine sanctuary is amazing! It has the biggest and most colorful corals I have ever seen right beside the community elementary school. It was so huge and colorful that it was almost too scary. At some parts of the day, one can also experience swimming with turtles.

 

4. Isla Naburot, Guimaras 

 

This private island is how rich people might have lived in the 1900’s. One side has a beach on a cove and the other side faces an open sea. It has been with the owner’s family for more than a century. There is no electricity but the solar panels are able to power light bulbs and fans though I hardly think there’s any need for electric fans. 

 

The beach has fine grey sand. Because of the privacy, it is the most relaxed and rested I’ve ever been in my life. And the food…the freshest, most delicious simple cooking I have ever tasted.

 

 

3. Siargao

There is something about this island that draws me to it. Maybe it is the relaxed surfer vibe. But the moment I stayed on the island, I started to entertain the thought of buying a piece of it.

 

 

Just like any other surf spot, the sand on the island is cream but mixed with small pebbles, dead corals and rocks. I will never forget the first fish we caught, which we ate in 3 different dishes.
