Tom Hanks Just Gave the Sweetest Gift to a Bullied Boy Named ‘Corona’

COVID-19 survivor Tom Hanks is out there stealing our hearts with his pure kindness.

The Hollywood actor is once again making headlines because of the sweetest gift he just sent to an eight-year-old boy living in Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia who wrote to him about being bullied because of his name, “Corona.”

The boy, named Corona De Vries, wrote to Tom to ask how he and his wife, Rita, are doing now, weeks after they had both recovered from the disease. The boy added that his classmates have been calling him “Coronavirus” because of his name, which has made him “sad and angry.”

To cheer him up, Tom sent over a beautiful typewriter (also branded Corona) to the boy’s residence together with a typewritten reply:

“Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful! You know, you are the only person I’ve ever known to have the name Corona — like the ring around the sun, a crown. I thought this typewriter would suit you. Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back.”

Ending the letter, Tom wrote: “P.S. You got a friend in ME!”

Thank you for brightening our day with this gesture, Tom!
