Yesterday, the world, especially the women and the moms, were appalled by Sotto’s “malicious” remark about DSWD Secretary Judy.
In case you missed it:
Just so you know, parenting is hard.
No one can ever describe nor sugarcoat how hard it is to parent a child. No one. I know, as I am a mom myself. I am a mom of four, to be specific. And just so you know, Sotto, I was a single mom. Raised by a single mom, as well.
But, this isn’t just about me.
Everyone – in social media or not – are furious with his comment. And yes, they made sure their voices were heard. Netizens – celebrities or not – took to Twitter their disappointments and thoughts about his distasteful act.
Lea Salonga, for instance, she tweeted that she will “curse anyone that sees women like her single mom, as “less than.”
Comedienne Pokwang gave him a piece of her mind too!
Hindi po ako na-ano lang! naging single mom ako kasi wala pong BAYAG!! ang lalaking minahal ko! pero binuhay ko ng marangal mga anak ko!

Kapuso star, Janine Gutierrez praised all the single moms out there!
My respect to all the single mothers who take on the immense responsibility of successfully raising children on their own 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Others brought up the alleged case of Pepsi Paloma and his plagiarism issue.

Case in point: Pepsi Paloma. No, we will not forget your rape of a minor and its cover up. (Google Sotto + Pepsi Paloma if you don't know) https://t.co/28tjSBXfsC

Nope, Netizens won’t be able to brush this incident off.
Joke lang daw. It's not even funny. Mas masakit sa ulo tong Tito Sotto na 'to kaysa migraine ko ngayon.

Others went political.
You know what's the bigger joke than Tito Sotto's "na-ano" joke?
It's the 17,200,371 people who voted for him last May 2016.

While others want to update the dictionary:

Because the Philippines wouldn’t be tagged as one of the “happiest places on earth” for nothing, Friendly and Tagalog Memes and Rants Facebook page share a hilarious pic that sums up everything.
Absolutely. She can also destroy everyone.
I guess, Sotto forgot the world is round, after all.
Did Sen. Tito Sotto even thought her daughter Ciara who's a single mother while he utter his joke?? Hyprocrite right..

Sotto, on the other hand, issued a statement apologizing for his “malicious” remark about DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo’s status as a single mom. According to Sotto, it was just a joke.
Ang premise ko, sabi ko nga, in the street language, ‘di ba? Yun ang biruan sa kalsada. That’s why kung minasama nila, I’m sorry, I apologize. They don’t understand the joke.
He further explained that the colloquial Tagalog term “na-ano” is a common expression.
Common expression or not, I guess the Netizens have spoken. The damage has been done.
Thinking out loud does he not remember the Solo Parent law?
