LOOK: Here’s the First Photo of Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new movie coming that’s set to explore the untold origin story of famed candymaker Willy Wonka years before the events of Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

Titled “Wonka,” the new film will star Timothée Chalamet of “Call Me By Your Name” fame as the young version of the titular character — and we finally got our first look at him all dressed up!

“The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last… WONKA,” Chalamet wrote on his Instagram post, quoting a line from the 1971 movie musical “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” which starred Gene Wilder.

Chalamet notably wore an outfit similar to Wilder’s portrayal of the iconic character, from the brown tophat to the velvet coat, plus he has his very own walking stick that had a tiny wrapped present on top of the handle.

The photo now has over 4 million likes in less than a day since posting and plenty of fans all over the world took to the comments section to gush over the way he looked.

Chalamet will be the third actor to ever be cast as Willy Wonka. Prior to him, it was Johnny Depp who played the kooky chocolatier in Tim Burton’s version back in 2005.

“Wonka” is directed by Paul King, written by Simon Rich, and produced by David Heyman. It is set to premiere on March 2023 and will also reportedly have song and dance numbers.
