THERE IS NO NEWS THAT TIKTOK WILL BE BANNED IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Social media app TikTok has taken the world by storm. The Philippines is no exception, especially now that everyone is stuck at home and bored during quarantine. Many Filipino celebrities have also joined the app to dance and do comedy skits to brighten up people’s days. Even Raffy Tulfo has been seeing trying TikTok dance challenges.

However, it seems that not everyone is happy about this surge in the use of TikTok in our country. Earlier today, it was announced that the Chinese video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance would be banned in the Philippines due to “overuse”.

The amounts of downloads of the app in the Philippines within the span of the 2-week enhanced community alone has apparently multiplied by 5000%.

While a lot of people have come to find joy and entertainment on the app, with one user describing it as a “sweet escape from the worries in our life”; a spokesperson explained that too many Filipinos are currently using TikTok that it has become an “obsession” and has been taking up too much time out of their everyday lives.
