The whole universe saw how Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach charmed her way into the Miss Universe title. Indeed, her beauty and heart deserved to win the title. To future representatives of the Philippines to the pageant, take note of how confident Wurtzbach carried herself and how calm she was during the dreaded question and answer portion.
But before Wurtzbach took the crown this year (in a controversial run, if we may add), Gloria Diaz showed the universe how intelligent and beautiful Filipinas are. In 1969, she won the Miss Universe crown, becoming the first Filipina to take it home.
Back then, the production was still small and the stage was humble. But even then, Diaz’s wit and beauty shone through. During the Q&A portion, she was asked, “In the next day or so, a man will land on the moon. If a man from the moon landed in your hometown, what would you do to entertain him?”
Her answer? “Oh, just the same things I do. I think if he has been on the moon for so long, I think when he comes over he wants to change, I guess.”
The answer is simple and direct. Oo nga naman.
