This Scary Simulator Shows How YOU Could Cause The End Of The World

Did you ever consider being responsible for the end of the world as we know it? A simulation now let’s you experience being “Patient Zero”, spreading a disease around the world and causing the collapse of society. Scary? You bet – but also potentially real.

Nobody knows yet how the world will really end, but while things like a Zombie Apocalypse or Alien Invasion are relatively unlikely, the risk of a deadly disease causing an earth-altering event is comparatively real – and now you can experience being Patient Zero, the single human being setting off a deadly chain reaction that ultimately leads to the end of the world as we know it.

The Collapse is an end-of-society simulator created by Ubisoft as part of the promotion and launch of the new Tom Clancy game, and this neat little feature creates a hyper-personalized experience of events to set the scene before the game’s launch later this month.

The simulator uses real data, including statistics such as population density, and shows how quickly a fictional variola chimera pandemic could spread from one person across a city and ultimately the whole world. Type in your location (it does work with Manila), then sit back and watch in terror how fast you could be causing the end of the world:
