Food Wars! (Shokugeki no Soma in Japanese) season 5 called The Fifth Plate is set to return already. The announcement was posted on May 12 on its official Twitter account.
Prior to this, the anime series was said to be on delayed broadcast’ due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and more information would be released on May 15. However, they didn’t want to keep fans guessing and they announced that it will return on Japanese TV screens in or a little after July 2020.

Due to the effect of the spread of COVID-19, further broadcast of the fifth plate will be postponed till July 2020.
Further information will be announced as soon as the new date is fixed.

Although the English caption said that the next installment is postponed “till July 2020,” the Japanese announcement said it will be broadcasted in or after July 2020.
Meanwhile, its official website confirmed that rebroadcasts of the fourth season, The Fourth Plate, will continue in Japan via Tokyo MX and BS11.
