Speaking of for-sharing food, I know which Filipino goody fits best for this: Sisig. Funland doesn’t make an exception for keeping a sisig stall in their premises, more so because this food park likes to cater for huge groups. It’s only fitting that Sizzling Daddy would gratify the need for food made for sharing with their pork jowls sizzling in a hot plate seasoned with calamansi and adorned with an egg waiting to be mixed.
Next up we have the ever favorite Japanese food. Funland have not forgotten about our Japanese friends one bit. Two of their many food stalls is occupied by Hanakatsu and Gifu-Ken, serving our jap food favorites in contrast. Hanakatsu likes to serve their foodies with breaded meat and rice meals accordingly. For that day, we had Chicken Tonkatsu set meal. It was complete with rice and miso soup. Gifu-Ken, on the contrary, likes to serve up rolls of seafood meat and fresh mango slices hugged between rice vinegar and nori. Now that’s a Japanese food fest you would want to try!
For our protein fanatics, Funland has two food joints for you to bid your moolah with. Beauty and the Ribs—their label says it all. Though I would like to demand that they change it to Beauty that is RIBS, on the grounds that their Full Slab menu item speaks nothing but beauty inside (their tender and fall-off-the-bones meat) and out (their glistening bbq coating). And Meat Us with their flawless seasoning on their Porchetta (Lechon Belly).
Saving the best for last, to satisfy your sweet tooth, we have you Frozen Spoon and Shake Box. These two food stands shake up some of our favorite dessert items. Frozen Spoon blesses us with a twist on a classic sweet treat. Their ice cream is ornamented with varied toppings, according to what you like. We jumped in the wagon and had Unicorn’s Breath and Campfire, their best-selling menu items they have. Similarly, we had the same flavor, only in milkshake form from Shake Box.
The next time your wheels bring you up north, don’t forget to drop by Funland Food Park, even if the weather refuses to allow you to—this was our case when we visited the park. The cool wind and dark clouds hinted heavy rain, and it did rain. The eerie vibe the rain gave off added to the aesthetic that we unexpectedly wanted. But no bad weather can stop us from having fun, even if it means being drenched in rainwater and well, drenched with good food and awesome company!
