Filipina visual artist Kim Cruz and French photographer Camille Robiou Du Pont opened their first collaborative exhibition, called Les Paradis Perdus, at Modeka Art Gallery on October 5, 2022.

Les Paradis Perdus, which means Lost Paradises in French, features solo works from both artists focusing on female figures immersed in nature and water. There are also five large-scale collaborative pieces, which are paintings by Cruz based on Robiou Du Pont’s photographs taken in France and Siargao. Both have a deep connection to the Siargao: Robiou Du Pont moved there six years ago, while Cruz considers it as her second home.

The exhibit showcases both Cruz and Robiou du Pont’s artistry, which have similar styles yet different specialties. Cruz plays with the female figure using heavy textures and soft and dream-like subjects and colors. Robiou Du Pont, meanwhile, portrays women and their relationship to the ocean.

Les Paradis Perdus is an invitation for women to take a deep dive into the most vibrant, emotive sense of themselves so that they can reconnect with their feminine and ever-changing natures.
