Niue is an island-country in the South Pacific Ocean that enjoys the constant glow of sunlight, a strong agricultural community, free wi-fi throughout the island, and get this: currency with designs from Pokemon, Disney, Doctor Who, and Star Wars.

Niue is in free association with New Zealand (Niueans are New Zealanders Queen Elizabeth II is head of state), but they are a self-governing state. In effect, this 260 square kilometer island of 1,190 people is independent—as far as international law is concerned—meaning they can do what they want, like put pop culture references on their currency.

The island country officially uses New Zealand dollars, but each year, they create commemorative coins. In 2001, their $1 and $2 coins featured Pokemon, while in 2014, it was Disney characters. They have also used Doctor Who, Spiderman, Batman, Transformers, and Star Wars. While they are not worth much in Niue, people from around the world are paying princely sums for them. On eBay, you have to pay at least P19,555 for a Star Wars coin set.
