This 55-year-old Vietnamese bodybuilder is being called the ‘real-life Master Roshi’

For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Master Roshi is the eccentric master of martial arts who trained Goku and Gohan (amongst others) from Dragon Ball Z. He is also known as the Turtle Hermit or the God of Martial Arts. Obviously then, he’s quite known for his physical prowess.

This is also the reason that the internet has started comparing Nhon Ly, a 55-year-old Vietnamese bodybuilder, to Master Roshi. You just have to look at them side-by-side to see the physical similarities!

He immigrated to the United States from Vietnam at 16 years old and started out as a manicurist. He later went on to open his own nail salon with his wife, Teri. Bodybuilding is said to have always been a passion of his. Now, that passion has propelled him to internet fame — and only in part because of his likeness to Master Roshi.

Although Ly himself acknowledges the resemblance, having even made his Instagram handle “@master_roshi_real_life.” He also posts pictures imitating the comical character:

Nhon Ly may not be a master of martial arts, but he is an impressive bodybuilder in his own right. Aside from being a member of the International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Professional League, he also holds several achievements. He has placed fourth in the lightweight category of the U.S. Championship 2011, seventh at the U.S. Championship in 2012 and fifth on the Nationals 2015.
