The light brightly burned with blazing fire as the University of the Philippines Civil Engineering Society (UPCES) to mark the third online set-up of AutoMATHic 2023: In It to Win It on February 3-5, 2022.
AutoMATHic is an annual intercollegiate mathematics quiz contest open to all 1st to 5th-year students under any engineering program nationwide. It covers different topics such as College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Mathematical Methods of Engineering. Regarded as the flagship event of UPCES, it has always positioned itself as a path to academic progress, utilizing only the highest of international mathematical standards for its challenging problems.
In consideration of the safety of the participants and in anticipation of similar restrictions due to the pandemic, AutoMATHic 2023: In It to Win It is pushed to be in an online set-up again to further widen our reach by inviting more students all around the country to participate.
To continue the event’s legacy and highlight its objective to put academic progress in the field of mathematics and engineering, AutoMATHic continues to open the doors for the development of engineering education and challenge the future engineering students nationwide through the improvement of the most fundamental engineering apparatus – mathematics.
This year’s AutoMATHic has changed in terms of the online platform that will be used for displaying the questions. It is reconstructed in a way that Quizizz will be used in displaying the questions and Zoom App will be used to the three-day contest proper so that participants will be able to monitor.
The following are the judges for the contest proper of AutoMATHic 2023: Mr. Angelo Manuel A. Castillo and Engr. Jean Norman M. Icaro, both Instructor from Department of Engineering Science, Mr. Jcob C. Malaguit, Assistant Professor from Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics, and Ms. Siena Catherine Maranan, Special Science Teacher from Philippine Science High School Calabarzon Region.
On the other hand, last year’s event is similar to the current online set-up of AutoMATHic in which Lenard Jac C. Guillermo outshined the participants as he bagged as the Champion of AutoMATHic 2022. On the other hand, Errol John E. Suarez and Jilmar John M. Contreras secured the 1st and 2nd runner up, respectively.
Furthermore, third time’s a charm so grab the opportunity to become the champion of AutoMATHic 2023. The registration period of the said event is until January 28, 2023.
