Last Saturday, a thief sneaked into Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada’s home located in Corinthian Hills, Quezon City, Inquirer.net posted on its website.
The thief, who was identified as Eric Dalagan, did not only steal cash from the senator’s home but also ate food in their kitchen and defecated in their balcony.
From the CCTV footage, it showed that the thief has been inside their empty home for about four to five hours. Estrada is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center while his family came from the birthday celebration of Estrada’s mother.
The police said that the suspect rummaged through Estrada’s daughter’s room and his wife’s home office before eating in the kitchen and defecating in the balcony. When the senator’s family arrived early that Saturday, the suspect jumped from the balcony but was caught later on while trying to escape.
The thief apologized and mentioned that he did not know it was Estrada’s home he sneaked into.
It seems that Estrada will not accept the apology saying, “Hindi naman ganung (kasimple yun).” (Rough translation: It’s not that simple.)
Additionally, he also mentioned that his daughter was traumatized that until now she doesn’t want to go back home.
The detained senator said that he felt helpless while the thief was inside their home.
Estrada is facing plunder and graft charges over his reported use of his Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) to ghost projects. This pork barrel scam is allegedly masterminded by Janet Lim-Napoles.
