There's Now an App That Matches You With People Who Hate the Same Things You Do 3

One of the most popular dating services online is Tinder, where you swipe right on the people you’re interested in, and where you’re only able to talk to people who also swipe right on you. It’s a great idea, because it means we are only allowed to talk to people who are also interested in us, which lessens the chances of rejection.

But it’s still a broad field, because you still don’t know if you’re going to hit it off. Enter Hater, a new dating app that lets you match with people who hate the same things as you do.

The app is simple to use: you sign up, and you tick off things that you hate from a list of 3,000 topics. They can be completely random, such as slow walkers, tipping below 15%, and butt selfies. It will then match you with people who hate the same things. Of course, location will also play a key role.

Connecting you to people who dislike the same things creates a better match because you have something in common. It’s a great conversation starter, but if this isn’t enough, Hater also has an icebreaker game every time you are matched.

The app was developed by Brendan Alper, and it first started as a joke. He left his job as a banker to pursue comedy, and now he’s going on the tech side. According to developers, they’ve been testing things since December of last year and found that the most commonly hated things are the US presidential election, bad sidewalk etiquette, and drain hair.

The app will be available on iOS starting February 8, and will be available on Android devices a few months after.
