There’s Going to be a Reboot of DuckTales and Lin-Manuel Miranda is Joining the Cast!

DuckTales Lin Manuel Miranda

Eighties and ’90s kids remember DuckTales, the action-packed series that followed the adventures of Scrooge McDuck, the richest duck in the world, and his great-nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Now, your childhood favorite is returning for a reboot, and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will be part of the cast!

Miranda will be playing the role of Gizmoduck, the hero employed as McDuck’s personal bodyguard. Gizmoduck is the alter ego of Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, an accountant who is good at counting at fast speeds.

However, in the reboot, Crackshell-Cabrera will be playing a scientist.

Miranda, who revealed that he is a DuckTales fan, will be joining David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan (Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley).

The original DuckTales only lasted three years from 1987 to 1990, but it spawned four seasons, 100 episodes, a well-received film adaptation, and a global following.

The rebooted version will screen in the third or fourth quarter of 2017 on Disney XD (a Disney channel geared towards children aged 6-14). Even before its premiere, a second season was already ordered.
