There’s a New “Death Note” Trailer for Netflix and We Can’t Deal

Death Note Netflix

In 2006, we were treated to Death Note, a creepy Japanese manga turned movie about a notebook that gives the owner the power to kill someone when their name is written. A sequel was released the same year and a spin-off was filmed in 2008, and fans have kept their passion alive by keeping Death Note memorabilia and dressing up as its characters in cosplay.

Eleven years after the films came out, fans will be treated to a Netflix reboot, and a new trailer was released during Comicon. Watch it below:

In the almost three minute clip, Light meets Ryuk, who gives him the titular notebook. It’s a tense trailer as Light tests if the notebook is effective, but it finishes even before we see some gory action. We’re still excited for it, though!

The Netflix adaptation will be released on August 25 and will star Nat Wolff as Light and Willem Dafoe as Ryuk.
