The Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines will be presenting the “Padyak Festival 2016: #PadyakDayOff” to be held on Friday and Saturday, September 23-24, 2016 at Intramuros, Manila City.
This year’s event organizer, BSTM 4-2 D, is expecting that it will be larger than last year, with hundreds of participants. Considered as a major off-campus event, Padyak Festival will include students from other universities and of course, the pedicab drivers of Intramuros who will be the main beneficiaries of this event. The activities will involve fun games, informative tours and a wellness program that focuses on the social aspect of the event, making it applicable for both padyak drivers and students to participate together.
The main purpose of Padyak Festival is to uplift the significance and image of pedicab drivers who have contributed greatly to the tourism industry; to give them acknowledgment and appreciation along with the promotion of Intramuros as a timeless tourist destination. This year, the organizers aspire to continue the said event with the hope of reaching and helping more people than before.
