The Pinoy Gaming Festival 2013 Summer Assembly

The Pinoy Gaming Festival 2013 Summer Assembly was successfully conducted on May 11-12, 2013 at the SM North EDSA, Annex event level 4. Dubbed as a prelude to the main event at SMX Convention Centre in October 2013, the crowd itself is enough to justify the hype & prestige of the Summer Assembly event. Throughout the 2 days, we’ve seen a total of 10,000 visitors attending the event!

The Pinoy Gaming Festival Summer Assembly 2013 featured various activities such as competitions with the following PC gaming titles: Chaos Online, CrossFire, DOTA 2 & last but not least, Starcraft II Heart of the Swarm. The main highlights of the competitions was the DOTA 2 segment whereby 3 regional teams flew in to Manila to compete with 5 other Filipino teams; namely Neolution.Orange from Malaysia, Neolution.International from Singapore & PMS|Asterisk from Singapore.

The competitions were being featured on the stage most of the time with professional live commentary from “Jtan” from Rapture Gaming Network and “TryQ” & “Lon” from Mineski. Everytime there was a live game on stage, the crowd would shift their focus to the stage area and squeeze as close as they can to catch a glimpse of the hottest action. However, the live commentary was also broadcasted online at https://www.twitch.tv/raptureph to cater to the online viewers who were unable to attend this event. Every stage game was also tagged together with the “Guess The Winner” whereby voters could fill in a simple form to predict the particular match result & put it into a box and after the game, our lovely hosts would randomly pick winners with prizes such as cash & gift items!

Competition results:

DOTA 2 Champion: Neolution.Orange (Malaysia)

Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm Champion:  Mski.EnDerr (Philippines)

CrossFire Champion:  Pacific.WARA (Philippines)

It is also interesting to note that the CrossFire Champion will be flown to Shanghai, China on June 2013 to compete in the Crossfire Global League Grand Finals, where the Philippine team will compete with other international teams and the eventual grand champion will take $50,000 USD from the prize pot of $177,000 USD.

Aside from competitions, each of our sponsors had various booths to showcase their latest products & organized fun-filled activities for the visitors! Some of the activities were the ASUS gaming rig contest, free drinks giveaway by Monster Energy & enriching talks from Neolution’s CEO, Mr Satean Boonmanant about showcasing Neolution’s gaming peripherals for the first time in the Philippines.
