The Philippines Has Its Hachiko and He is Still Waiting For His Dad or Mom

This Hachiko may not have needed to wait too long before someone rescued him and brought him home, but his longing for his real home and parents is just as palpable. This is how the person who found him feels. She found him in in Montalban Highway in Rizal. According to people in the area, he had been lingering at a specific spot for two days, as if waiting for someone.

The rescuer’s sister shared the rescue story on social media.

Translation:

If you know this dog, please leave me a message. My sister spotted him in front of BPI on Montalban Highway. He was wet and shivering, shying away from people. But she was able to approach him and bring him home. She gave  him a bath and fed him.

According to the people by the highway, the dog had been returning to that spot for two days. They tried approaching or feeding him but he always ran away.

I talked to the rescuer herself and she said that the dog appeared well groomed and free from fleas. He was on a leash that appeared to have snapped.

Although she and her sister are willing to take in the dog they are concerned about the dog’s happiness. He seemed sad.

We have three dogs and a cat right now. We don’t mind adopting another one, pero kasi, ang sad niya rito.

They believe the dog should be with his real family.

Translation:

He doesn’t play with our dogs and just sleeps all the time (or maybe he is simply recovering his strength right now). I think it is better for him to be reunited with his own family. His leash appeared to have snapped. He must have gotten lost when he ran.

The rescuer named the dog, who looks like he’s a mixed Japanese Spitz, Juan. He is already a senior dog, based on the appearance of his teeth.
