The Philippines Bags Back-to-Back Diving Awards From The World Travel Awards

Back-to-back diving accolades is absolutely a cause for people to find pride in the beauty of their country. Which is why the recognition given to the Philippines at the recently held Grand Final Gala Ceremony at the Royal Opera House Muscat is no small matter.

The Philippines was named the world’s premier diving destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA). It was also honored as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination award last October.

Beating out eight other global dive destinations, the Philippines was deemed WTA’s 2019 World’s Leading Dive Destination. It won against other amazing destinations like the Azores Islands, Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Galapagos Islands, Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Maldives, and Mexico.

Palawan’s Amanpulo Resort was likewise recognized as the World’s Leading Dive Resort at the gala event.

Dubbed by marine experts and scientists as the heart of marine biodiversity in the world, our country is home to the highest concentration of coral reef life and astounding variety of marine species. This latest recognition is a validation that the Philippines is truly a premier dive destination,” said Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

TWA is considered  “the travel industry’s most prestigious awards programme.” Its awards are deliberated on by an international jury of hospitality experts and peers.
