The New Studio Ghibli Theme Park Is Finally Opening in November—Here’s What It Looks Like

Yes, the long wait is over, Ghibli fans! The new Studio Ghibli Theme Park that we first heard news about in 2019 now has an opening date, and we’re so excited!

The theme park will officially be opening its doors on November 1, 2022, to all ticketholders in Japan with three of five planned zones ready to be explored. These zones are the Ghibli Warehouse which will be an indoor facility that will hold special exhibitions, film screenings, and plenty of memorabilia; the Seishun no Oka (Youth Hill) Area that will sell actual Studio Ghibli antiques and feature a replica of the Chikyuya shop from “Whisper of the Heart;” and the Dondoko Forest from “My Neighbor Totoro.”

The two other areas, namely the Mononoke no Sato (Mononoke’s Village) and Majo no Tani (Witches’ Valley) where restaurants and rest areas will be set up, including the Okino residence from “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and a huge replica of the moving castle from “Howl’s Moving Castle, will open in 2023.

The official Twitter account of the park has been posting teasers of what the place would look like, too. Check them out below!

The Studio Ghibli Theme Park will be located in Aichi’s Expo Park in Nagoya and will span 200 hectares. It will have rides (but no large-scale rollercoasters) and tons of nature trails that guests will enjoy taking leisurely walks on.

Tickets are already being sold online but it is currently based on a lottery system and there is a daily cap on visitors. If you’re part of the lucky ones who will get to visit this park, please share your experience with us!
