The New Pokemon Movie Is Ditching Misty and Brock And People Aren’t Happy

For most of us, Pokemon was a huge part of our childhoods and for some of us, it remains a part of life especially with new Pokemons being added with each new generation.

There’s an upcoming Pokemon movie set to be released later this year, and it’s bound to send us all on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You is going to be a retelling of Ash Ketchum’s earliest adventures as a Pokemon trainer.

It is said to be very faithful to the events of the first Pokemon series–there’s just one thing they seemed to have missed. Brock and Misty, Ash’s first BFFs, have reportedly been replaced by new characters named Souji and Makato.

Reports say that in this retelling of Ash’s first adventures with Pikachu, he will be journeying around the region winning gym battles with Souji and Makato.

Of course, not a lot of people were happy with the character changes.

While this news is making us all very confused, there is also the ~speculation~ that the Pokemon movies aren’t canon. Meaning, this movie is outside of the anime world; meaning, Brock and Misty still exist–just not in this particular movie.

Plus, reports are also saying that Brock and Misty may appear in Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You. They’re going to be in the closing credits along with the other companions that Ash has had through the years.
