The LUMPIANIZA could be the newest star of your next handaan!

Whether it’s the holidays or not, Filipinos love hosting parties. There will always be a reason for a handaan in any Filipino household. It has become such a tradition that we now have staple food in every handaan–pancit, spaghetti, fried chicken, hotdogs on sticks with marshmallows, and fried lumpiang shanghai.

While these dishes are tried and tested, it’s never a bad idea to bring something new to the table. Literally. If you want to level up your next party, you should consider the lumpianiza.

Lumpianiza is exactly what it sounds like: lumpia and longganiza in one dish! When I first heard of it, I immediately thought, “Genius!”

This is an original concept from Pop’s Original Lumpianiza, owned by Rele Hernandez. The brand was started in November of 2017, and he shares with WhenInManila.com that the discovery of the lumpianiza was practically an accident.

“I was making skinless longganizas for home consumption, while she makes lumpiang shanghai. I used some of her leftover wrappers on the longganizas and thought, “Ang daming longganiza flavors sa Pilipinas, and lahat yun may market na. If we could incorporate all those flavors in to Lumpianizas, then it might turn out to be a good business idea.”

And because of that bright idea, we have the opportunity to enjoy two Pinoy favorites in one!

Pop’s Original Lumpianiza currently has 5 flavors: Vigan, Tuguegarao, Hamonado, Spicy Vigan, and Spicy Tuguegarao.

It’s really quite an experience when you first bite into one. You have this expectation of the normal lumpiang shanghai taste, but no, you get the surprise of tasty longganiza inside. I was actually quite surprised at how great it tasted! I never thought longganiza would go great as lumpia as well.

Aside from the lumpianiza, Pop’s also offers other flavored lumpia such as the Cheeseburger and the Beef Taco. Both are oozing with delicious cheese that oozes right out after every bite.

The lumpianiza can be dipped in your choice of sauce, such as vinegar or ketchup! It’s also great as a quick meal for when you don’t have time to whip up something too grand. Just deep fry it and you’re good to go.

Right now, they don’t have any physical stores, but they have lots of distributors all over Metro Manila. You can watch out for them at some pop-up markets and bazaars, too!

If you want to be the star at your next potluck family reunion, better start stocking up on these lumpianizas!
