The Madeira Airport in Portugal recently changed its name to Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport in honor of the football icon.
But apart from the name change, a statue was also unveiled at the airport as tribute to Ronaldo. Unfortunately, the bust looked nothing like him and had little resemblance to the four-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The sculptor who made the statue said Ronaldo was consulted before it got made. The finished product, he said, was the result of the feedback from the football star.
But people on social media didn’t let this pass. Amused by the awkward-looking bust, they poked fun at it on Twitter.

For a very handsome man, Ronaldo has had some appalling luck with statue-makers pic.twitter.com/M74YEDng4c
