The Hollywood Critics Association, a film critic organization based in Los Angeles, California, just crowned its actress of the decade and consequently sparked debates all over the internet.
On Twitter, the HCA proudly announced that it was giving the grand title to Kristen Stewart for her “impressive filmography” that “includes Seberg, Personal Shopper, Clouds of Sils Maria, The Runaways, and Charlie’s Angels.” They did not, however, go into detail on their selection process and why Kristen was specifically chosen among the many brilliant actresses we’ve had the pleasure of watching onscreen for the past 10 years.

What an insult to the dozens of ladies who have put in far more impressive work over the last decade. This is the biggest farce award I have ever heard of in my life. Portman, Knightly, Stone, Dench, Theron, Blanchett, and many others are owed an apology by the HCA. DISGRACEFUL

In response to the backlash, the HCA tweeted: “This tweet proves the point that there are always multiple people who deserve an award.”
They added: “Lupita [Nyong’o] had 10 films, Margot [Robbie] had 17, Emma [Stone] had 18, Amy [Adams] had 16, and Kristen had 21. Each one of these actresses are incredibly talented and are all ideal candidates for this award. They will more than likely be awarded in future ceremonies.”
