Filipino entrepreneurs take the hard but necessary pivot to take their products online to adapt to the pandemic. Riding on the momentum from two prior events, up-and-coming online marketplace I SHOP Lokal is giving local businesses another boost with an event entitled: The “Filipino Standard.” For the campaign’s second week, and this upcoming National Heroes Day Weekend, August 28-31, I SHOP Lokal will showcase on its Instagram account @ishoplokal, the Filipino Brand that took the Global Stage, Ibarra Watches.
As one of the six brands, tagged “world-class” by I SHOP LOKAL that will be featured individually during the virtual events, the watchmaking company prides itself as the first Filipino watch brand to assemble its products locally. The timepieces are reflections of Filipino pride and patriotism.
For a five-year-old brand, Ibarra has made great strides. In 2017, Ibarra produced the commemorative watch for the ASEAN 50 Special Celebration held in the Philippines. In 2019, it launched its Heritage line which featured the Sucesos Mechanical Hand Wind–a modern recreation of the wristwatch worn by national hero Jose R. Rizal during his days.
The Lokal Community gets the chance to indulge guiltlessly by shopping, watching local performers, and listening to local & international speakers while enjoying a couple of cocktails or scrumptious dishes through their innovative “Lokal Bar” located at their IG highlights.
