“There is a big difference between “eat to live” and “live to eat.” The former treats food as sustenance, which is vital for survival; the latter, gives food a certain characteristic that elevates it to something that should be experienced.
Now on its ninth edition, Backyard Grill at the Park continues with its tradition of allowing people who live to eat to commune together. More than the good food and the awesome entertainment that are signature traits of this fete, guests are given the opportunity to take part in a worthy cause. Backyard Grill at the Park has been of service to a number of charitable institutions since its very first leg. Some of these institutions were Habitat for Humanity, Museo Pambata, Futkal, Move.org, Silid Aralan, White Cross Orphanage, CARA Welfare Philippines, Laura Vicuna Foundation, Samaritan’s Place, and World Hunger Relief.
This Sunday, August 9, 2015, Backyard Grill at the Park goes back to another familiar village. The Campanilla Park in Dasmarinas Village will be filled with smokin’ hot goodness from the flavourful porchetta of Porketta Man; freshly grilled chicken from Don Andres Peruvian Kitchen; home cooked delights from Xancho; deep dish pizza from Pomodoro Pizza; heavenly delis from Mad Mustard; fish, fries and everything nice from Chuck’s Grub; comfort food and waffles from Egg-it; and sugar dreams from Earnest Bakes. Internet sensation Reese Lansangan and Over October will make this sunset affair complete with the soulful rendition of popular covers. As is with all other Backyard Grill at the Park celebrations, a portion of the food sales for the day will be donated to a charity, and this leg will support Tuloy Foundation, Inc., serving street children since 1993.
