The Cup of all Cups goes to Taft

Accounting is like a game. And for us to survive, we only have two options – to win the game, or to change the game.

The National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – National Capital Region’s grandest academic event is now here. The 15th Charlwin Lee Cup is presented to you by NFJPIA-NCR and Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co., in partnership with Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – De La Salle University.

Charlwin Lee Cup is tagged as the “Cup of all Cups,” for the scope of the questions is as big as the CPA Licensure Examination. Also, being a placer in any of the concluded quiz bees is a qualification. Hence, contestants in the CL Cup are already winners and title holders; with nothing more to prove than being the Best of best.

The event is named after Mr. Charlwin Aljon Lee, the first president of NFJPIA-NCR.

Being the host school of this event, JPIA-DLSU brainstormed and came up with this year’s CL Cup theme which is “The Game Has Changed.”

“The theme is inspired by the movie Tron: Legacy which is a Science-Fiction film primarily focused on virtual reality. Its genre and vibe is similar to The Matrix in that both films were based on technological advancements ahead of their time. Embedded in the plot of the film is a game that resembles a race towards unlocking control of the real world. According to the film’s director, the overarching idea of the film was finding human connection in the digital world. This is the idea that JPIA-DLSU envisions for the 15th Charlwin Lee Cup. Over the years, technology has changed the accounting profession in different ways. For instance, the different softwares and systems made available has helped in finishing certain tasks faster and at a higher rate of accuracy. Accountancy students must be able to keep up with emerging technologies and keep their skills up to date. This can create a positive impact to their future careers.” -JPIA-DLSU

The event will be attended by spectators from other regions outside NCR, partners and arbiters from SGV & Co., alumni and the event’s very generous sponsors. The venue will be inside the De La Salle University, Henry Sy Sr. Hall.

A powerhouse partner school plus the Country’s Top 1 Accounting Firm, SGV & Co., equalizes to the most prestigious academic event the NFJPIA-NCR would ever organize for this federation year.
